Dav had recently retired from XC flying, but Luc Armant has reignited his passion with exciting new performance projects and a contagious thirst for thermals and long crossings, as we saw in August 2009 when Dav flew 333km for an Alpine Record flight with the BBHPP.

Dav’s impressive free flight resume is in contrast to his very humble and quiet persona. Wise beyond his years, Dav’s quiet philosophy on safe and fun paraglider design has created the performance and feeling of the entire current Ozone range.

Russell Ogden, 36, flying since 1994

  • 3 times British Champion
  • 1st PWC Turkey 09
  • 2nd PWC Superfinal Event 2009
  • 2nd Overall PWC 2009
  • Hours of flying per year: 300+

Favorite Wings:

  • Favorite Overall Wing: Swift
  • XC: M3
  • Competition: R10

Russ says he loves racing paragliders, to him it’s “The Beautiful Game”. And we say that he’s rather good at it. With more than a decade of competition experience under his belt and many years of testing experience, Russ has become a serious force on the Paragliding World Cup.

Russ is a natural in the air. Watching him engage in any aspect of paraglider flight from ground handling to thermalling and the smoothest acro, will induce a sense of relaxed awe in you. He makes climbing past you in a thermal look so easy, you’ll think that something is wrong with your wing… how else could anyone do that when they’re in the same piece of air? Perhaps the secret lies in his Jamaican roots, or it could be just thousands upon thousands of hours of training… we’ll never know.

Luc Armant, 34, flying since 2001

  • Competition title: first place on French XC league (one time) + Second place (two times). Third place in the French championship 2009.
  • Third place in the Italian championship 2009.
  • First place in the British championship 2009.
  • Record flights: 199km FAI triangle.
  • 1100km vol biv alone in Himalaya.
  • Hours of flying per year: 400h

Favorite Wings:

  • Current favorite wing for XC: R10
  • Current favorite wing for travel, hiking: UL19
  • Favorite thing: “For me, nothing can compete with XC flying!”

Luc’s arrival on the Ozone Test and Design Team was most certainly the best thing that has happened to Ozone in recent history. His brilliance and his background in fluid dynamics combined with his intense passion for efficient and safe paraglider flight has lead to quantum leaps forward in the efficiency and safety of our designs. Luc is seriously passionate about paragliding, particularly vol bivouac adventure flying in big mountains, and any long XC flight.

Luc is completely obsessed with efficiency. Whether he is driving his car slowly and smoothly to preserve energy, pedaling his road bike at an exact cadence, or working with Dav on the design of a new wing, efficiency is the major defining factor for all of his actions.
